Each issue of About Place Journal, the arts publication of the Black Earth Institute, focuses on a specific theme. We will close to submissions for our Fall 2020 issue Works of Resistance, Resilience on August 1. Our mission: to have art address the causes of spirit, earth, and society; to protect the earth; and to build a more just and interconnected world. Call :: Courtship of the Wind Special Election Issue

Deadline: October 1, 2020
Recognizing the importance of the upcoming presidential election, the winter issue of The Courtship of Winds will be a special Election issue and will be published before the election. We are looking for submissions that in any way address some aspect of our current political situation. Submissions should still be works of art, as opposed to simple diatribe. Call :: Otis Nebula Fall 2020 Issue

Deadline: July 31
Otis Nebula has been publishing incandescent, substantial work that operates on its own terms since 2009. The theme of this issue is: They said it couldn’t be done! Please interpret this wildly and loosely and visit our “contribute” page for more information. While there, why not take a gander at some of our previous issues? If you dig what we’re doing, send us stuff. (If you don’t, maybe don’t.) We look forward to seeing what you’ve been up to!

Don’t forget that The Hunger Journal has now expanded to include The Hunger Press, starting with their Tiny Fork Chapbook Series. They believe art and literature is eternally important, and want to use this opportunity to welcome new writers and readers into The Hunger community by producing well-designed, dynamic, hand-bound chapbooks. They will be accepting submissions from June 1–September 1. They welcome poetry, prose, and hybrid manuscripts of 15–40 pages.
